I recently found a bunch of free handouts on food storage and thought it might be helpful to all of us that are trying to get a better storage figured out for our families.
One Month Basic Food Supply for one Adult
(these are all measured in #10 cans - the size that comes from the church cannery)
Wheat - 3 cans
White Flour - 1 can
White Rice - 2 cans
Quick Oats - 1 can
Macaroni - 1 can
Pinto Beans - 1 can
White Sugar - 1 can
Powdered Milk - 1 can
Shortening - 1 can
Salt - 4 (4 oz ) shakers or 1lb.
Suggested Amounts of Basic Foods for One Adult for One Year
Grains - 400 lbs. (Includes wheat, flour, rice, corn, oatmeal and pasta)
Legumes - 60 lbs. (Includes dry beans, split peas, lentils etc)
Powdered Milk - 16 lbs.
Cooking Oil - 10 quarts (16 pounds of shortening equals 10 quarts of oil)
Sugar or Honey - 60 lbs. (67 lbs of honey equals 60 pounds of sugar)
Salt - 8 lbs.
Water (2 weeks worth) - 14 gallons
